DiDi SMS Verification Numbers

DiDi got its start in China, but it’s not just a China app — the same brand now runs ride-hailing in Mexico City, São Paulo, Bogotá, and a growing list of other Latin American cities, alongside its home market. Signing up as a rider or driver asks for a phone number before it’ll let you past the first screen, and if you’d rather not use your own for that, rent one instead. Ours start at $0.05 and the code usually lands within a few seconds.

Why people do this instead of using their own number

Keeping your real number out of it.DiDi ties your rider profile, ride history, and payment details to whatever number you sign up with. Verify with one you’ll never use again and none of that trail leads back to your actual line.

Running more than one account.DiDi wants its own number per account, and most people only carry one phone. Maybe you’re testing the app in a service area you don’t normally use, or keeping a business account separate from your personal rider profile — a rented number covers either case without touching your main number.

Signing up as a driver, at least the phone part.Driver accounts go through the same phone-verification screen as rider ones — DiDi wants a working number before the profile even exists. That’s genuinely all this covers, though: the actual driver onboarding, document checks, and background verification DiDi runs afterward are a separate process entirely, and nothing here changes how that works.

How to verify DiDi in 5 steps

1
Register
Free, takes about 30 seconds. No ID, no personal phone number.
2
Add funds
Crypto only for now (BTC, USDT, and a few others) — $5 minimum. We know that's annoying if you just want to try one number for $0.05, but that's where it sits right now.
3
Grab a DiDi number
Type "DiDi" into the services list, hit Get Number.
4
Enter it into DiDi
Wherever DiDi's own signup or verification screen is asking for a phone number, that's where it goes.
5
Wait a few seconds
The code lands in your dashboard on its own, no refreshing needed. Type it into DiDi and that number's done its job.

Questions people actually ask

Does a virtual number actually work for DiDi verification?
Yes — DiDi just needs to send an SMS to whatever number you hand it during signup. Ours receive that the same way a personal SIM would.
Is this only useful for people in China?
Not really, no. DiDi started there, but it now runs rider and driver operations in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and a growing list of other Latin American cities under the same name and the same phone-verification screen — most of the traffic on this page probably isn't Chinese at all.
Will DiDi definitely accept the number, though?
That we can't promise. DiDi runs its own fraud checks on incoming numbers, and every so often one gets flagged before it ever sends anything — that's on their side, not ours. What we do control is delivery: if the code doesn't arrive, cancel the activation and you're refunded, no argument.
How long does the SMS take?
Normally a handful of seconds. Occasionally slower if DiDi's own systems are backed up, but that's rare.
Does this work for a driver account too, or just riders?
Same phone-verification step either way — DiDi asks for a number when a driver profile is created just like it does for a rider one. Worth being clear, though: that's all this covers. Whatever DiDi requires afterward for driver onboarding, document checks, or background verification is a separate process on their end, and a rented number doesn't touch any of it.
Can I use this to test a different service area or run a second account alongside my main one?
That's basically the other reason people land here — a regional test account, a business account kept apart from a personal one, whatever the reason, DiDi wants its own number per account and most people only have one phone.
I only want to top up $1 to test it — can I?
Not right now — $5 is the floor, and it's crypto only (no card payments yet). Numbers themselves are still $0.05 and up, so $5 covers a lot of tries.
